Well... They ended up taking out my whole thyroid & a couple lymph nodes b/c they were full of cancer. The surgery was very successful. I had to go see a specialist and had a couple follow-up visits with him. Had treatments and everything. Now I am undergoing a medical board evaluation for the Air Force. I'm a little worried about it but not fully b/c I know everything will work out just fine (the way it's supposed to!)! :-)
I didn't realize it had been so long since I've had anything to say. I have been definitely keeping up on my reading though. Mary, Brandi, Carole, Melissab, Kim, Sue, Supergirl, SupaK, Tracey, Evie... just to name a few!

It's been three weeks since I lasted posted to this blog... Wow how time flies!!
Just an update:
About two months ago I found a lump in my throat. I could feel it from the outside, on my left side. I went to the doctor and he said it was my thyroid. He sent me to the surgeon. The surgeon did a fine needle aspiration biopsy. The results came back a week later with suspicious cells. They want to remove that part of my thyroid. While in surgery, they will test the part that they remove for cancer. If it comes back fine, they will sew me back up and just watch it. If it comes back cancerous, they will remove my whole thyroid.
My surgery date is tomorrow!! I had my pre-op on Monday and I was getting a little teary-eyed while the nurse was explaining stuff to me. Today I am fine b/c I found out that I made Staff (Air Force). I have a feeling I will be freaking out tomorrow morning. My surgery is scheduled for 0930/central. My mom is flying down from Michigan (my home state).
I just wanted to post and share. Thank you.

Just a little background information on me & my BFL journey!...
I had first heard of the bfl when Bill Phillips first appeared on Oprah (many years ago). One of my friends bought me the book for my birthday and I had attempted the program multiple times up until Jan '03 when I really buckled down and completed the challenge. I lost about 15 lbs and many inches. I looked and felt wonderful. Then in March 2003, I met the man that is now my husband, we got married, got pregnant, had a miscarriage... let's just say that I let life get in the way and I stopped working out and eating right. I ate ANYthing and EVERYthing that my little heart desired. I quickly gained back all the weight that I had lost PLUS an additional 70 lbs! I have been carrying around this extra weight for two years now. I am ready to rid myself of this weight and dreadful feeling that I get, every day, by looking in the mirror. I will finish this program with flying colors!

My first post here. Not sure what to write yet. I did not work out today nor have I eatin on plan. Might as well chaulk it up to a free day!! My 2 sisters, 2 nieces and nephew are coming to visit from Michigan on Monday (through Friday). I have been super busy with cleaning the house and making plans to have everything ready when they arrive. I CANNOT wait to see them! It's been a year since I've last seen them.
I started my BFL Challenge on 18 Jul 05! Here are my goals for this Challenge:
1. I will complete my workouts in the morning before work.
2. I will eat 5-6 meals a day (prepared from home or at least store bought, ex: yogurt, cottage cheese).
3. I will enjoy one free day a week.
4. I will do at least 8 push ups by 20 Oct 05 (next time I have to PT test)!
5. I will decrease my run time by 2 minutes by 20 Oct 05! Right now it's 19:04 for 1.5 mile run.
6. I will max out my sit ups (47) by 20 Oct 05!
7. I will post my measurements (every 4 weeks) on Sunday on the Body-for-LIFE tracker.
8. I will be in bed by 9:30 every night (except Saturdays!! b/c my free day will be on Sundays) :-)
NOTE: I quit smoking 25 Oct 05. Seems like I went right to fast food after that. I was eating it about 2-3 times a DAY! About a month ago I realized how much money was being wasted on fast food and decided to quit that as well. Now I am trying to cure my chocolate addiction. If I can master that I will have it made! ;-)
