Day 28 of 84
Things are going fairly well. Except I weighed myself this morning and the scale has not gone down. It's been a week since I last weighed... At least it didn't go up. Right?
Didn't do workout yesterday so I "made it up" today. Sure did kick my butt. Felt like puking afterwards! I guess that's good, right? I am constantly improving and that must been good things are happening. They just aren't happening fast enough. Anyone ever feel that way???

Day 22 of 84
So I have made it to Day 22!!!... It hasn't been easy but I'm making it! I wrote out some more goals yesterday...
1. I will eat more veggies for the next week!
2. I will do cardio twice a day: 1/2 hr A.M., 1/2 hr P.M. w/in the next week.
3. I will not weigh myself until NEXT Sunday, 10Dec06.
4. I will call Dad every night for the next week and tell him what I ate. (Accountability!) (NOTE: I do NOT want to disappoint my Dad... EVER!! I think calling him every night is a GREAT idea. I just love his approval. I should have thought of this a LONG time ago!)
Those are just some things I am going to work on this week.
Todays meals went something like this...
1035 MRP shake
1200 1/2 srvg broccoli w/ ff ranch dressing
1315 1.5 c Bran flakes w/ 1 c skim milk
1730 1 srvg celery w/ 1 TBSP natural pb
1830 fajitas w/ el el bean
I feel like I had a very productive day! Did ubwo this morning and had an AWESOME, kick-butt cardio session this afternoon. And we did a whole bunch of situps and pushups this afternoon after cardio. As you all know I am working on passing my fitness test for the Air Force and I am working out with my Section Commander's wife!! My cardio this afternoon consisted of sprint training. Went really well... pushed myself past a point that I NEVER thought I could get through! I did it and now I'm unstoppable. It has filled me so much confidence in the running department! I know I am going to pass this test within the month. I can't wait!! Keep reading to find out when. :-)

OKay... So Jason and I go to Southern Athletic Club. It has EVERYthing. And when I say EVERYthing I mean EVERYTHING!!! It has an indoor track, pool, hottub, steam rooms, women's room, racquetball courts, tons of aerobic classes to choose from and of course, your cardio machines, free weights and machines, etc. BUT since we've been going there I have only used the weight machines and cardio equipment. SO.. yesterday we found a little fitness center closer to base (SAC is about 20-30 minutes, depending on traffic, away from our house). This one is about 10 minutes from base... So I can go in the morning (before work) and shower there (they have private showers, which is completely awesome!) and when I get out of work, if I want, I can go there and it takes me so little time to get home. It doesn't have nearly everything that SAC has but it's more personable and that's a HUGE plus with me. It's smaller and I don't think too many ppl have heard of it yet so it won't be too busy! They offer a free 7-day pass so I think I'm going to check it out. Yes it's nice to have the option of all the added perks of SAC but location is key with me! So I don't know. It's up in the air right now. Oh yeah, we just pay month by month at SAC but you have to sign a contract with this other place. Which isn't too bad b/c they have many, many locations whereas SAC is only in Oklahoma. So I don't know. What do you guys think?

Day 13 of 84
This week has been thrown all out of whack! Update...
Day 9 - fell asleep as soon as I got home from work. Didn't do cardio.
Day 10 - got outta work, hubby wanted to run all sorts of errands and clean the house for guests the next day, and we had to go grocery shopping. Let other things get in the way of my upper body workout. Then hubby & I got in a little bit of a spat and I ate some cinnamon rolls.
Day 11 - Had my plan all mapped out for Thanksgiving but timing got all messed up so I made this day my free day! Also didn't get up in time to run so that went to heck as well.
Day 12 - Didn't plan this day. Was supposed to get back into my eating plan but I didn't write anything down and I couldn't remember what I had eaten. Didn't do lbwo either. Hubby's family was in town and we just visited the whole time. Should have at least taken an hour out of that time and did my workout!!
Day 13 TODAY! - Planned, didn't eat completely clean today but at least I attempted this time. I didn't do cardio today but I did do yesterday's lbwo. Plan on doing today's cardio tomorrow. I don't have time to complete my workout at the gym before going to work (due to gym hours) so I am planning on doing Tae-bo instead!
Okay... So you can see why I say that this week has been thrown out of whack! One of my goals for today is to go back and read my goals for the 12 weeks. I need to keep my motivation in the front of my mind that way I don't ever have a repeat of this week!!

Day 8 of 84
You know?!?!... I think I'm good to go this time. There have been many times that I have attempted and re-attempted to do the bfl but never got past day 2 or 3. I successfully completed a challenge about 3 years ago and I had GREAT results but for some reason could never get started again. I am on DAY 8!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so proud of myself. And I am pushing through.

Day 6 of 84
Things are still going well. I actually accomplished FOUR of my five goals today! :-) The only one I missed was getting up at 0830. It's SO nice to sleep in so I did! I didn't get up until 1100!
I went to they gym after the UofM/OSU game. I had some friends over for the game. I made the EFL sloppy joes. They are SO good. And they went over VERY well. Good stuff.
Well that's it for now! Have a great weekend... Well what's left it anyway!!

Day 5 of 84
Today was so kick-butt! Started my day off with some cardio. Did 40 minutes on the treadmill: incline of 5, warmed up for 5 mins, ran for 15, walked for 4, ran for 7, cooled down for 9. Then I did another 10 minutes on the bike. I felt so good ALL day long!! I am very proud of myself.
Just got done with my upper body workout. I don't think I've sweated this much before while doing an upper body workout! I also danced between my reps. Couldn't help it!... The music was in me. :-)
Now I am leaving to go to the gym to get my HIIT session in from yesterday. Didn't make it to the gym b/c we had some unexpected guests.
Had a very successful day with goals!
1. Get up at 0600. SUCCESS!
2. Do kick-butt cardio. 40 mins on treadmill & 20 HIIT (from yesterday). SUCCESS!!
3. Take vitamins. SUCCESS!
4. Stick to meal plan! Sort of (stayed under calorie limit but wasn't EXACTLY according to plan)
5. Believe in self. Review goals! (meaning 12-week goals) SUCCESS!

Day 3 of 84
Thanks for the post Katie! Makes me feel good that people are reading my blog. I know I hadn't been bloggin on a regular basis but I'm going to start...
Today's goals were:
1. Get up at 0500. Setback (again, overslept. going to concentrate on getting up for early cardio next week!)
2. I will do 30 minutes (additional) cardio. SUCCESS!!
3. I will go grocery shopping. Setback (my hubby picked some stuff up last night)
4. I will take vitamins. SUCCESS!
5. I will focus on my goals & think of them when I want to do something bad. SUCCESS!
Things are going rather well. I am feeling good! I didn't crave any bad food today. Realized it's b/c I have kept my body fueled throughout the day. As long as I am not starving, I can (and WILL) eat good!!! :-)

Day 2 of 84
Started the BFL last night. Got my Success Journal in the mail last night and went right to the gym for my upper body workout. I decided that I do not like my gym for upper body day b/c there isn't a variety of machines for upper body. But I still pushed out what I could! Then someone mentioned the female's fitness room upstairs that I had totally forgotten about. So I am going to scope it out tomorrow and see what kind of workouts I can put together! So I am excited about that! I also did extra cardio (I've decided to do cardio 6 days a week)... 30 minutes on the Arc Trainer and sweated my butt off! Good stuff!!
Goals for today:
1. Get up at 0500. Setback (actually overslept)
2. Go to the gym for kick-butt cardio! Setback (Got really bad cramps after my class tonight, just came home. Decided to switch today for Sunday's day off of cardio.)
3. Go grocery shopping. Setback (hubby and I got into a lil squabble and the last thing I want to do is go grocery shopping with him now!)
4. Take vitamins. SUCCESS!! :-)
5. Focus on goals and think of them when I want to be bad. SUCCESS!
All in all, good day but will focus on doing better with each new day that I am blessed with!

Okay, so I failed another PT test (on 31Oct06). I talked with my Section Commander today and I have 82 days to pass or I get kicked out of the Air Force. There is no way in hell that I am going to say that I got kicked out b/c I couldn't pass a fitness test!!!! This has really motivated me. The big thing that needs to happen is my waist needs to shrink! If I could measure at 33 inches then I can pass. Oh yeah, AND max out my pushups and situps. I am so close!!
Sunday, October 01, 2006
So I am starting the BFL again tomorrow! This time is I am going to make it happen!! There are a few things in the near future that I want to look my best for. One of those things is my 30th birthday (28-January)! I want to look and feel like I have never looked and felt in my life on that day. Our plan is to go to Michigan to see my family and friends and celebrate my birthday! BFL worked in the past (2003) and, so far, has been the only thing that has worked for me.
Started thinking about all the events that are up-and-coming in my life and wanted to jot them down so I can keep them in mind when I start to detour from my program (b/c that's inevitable!)...
October: Las Vegas (Jason's brother is getting married!)
December: Pictures for Christmas cards (I have always wanted to do this!)
January: My 30th bday
May: Our 4-year wedding anniversary/professional wedding photos in dress that I never got to wear (long story!)
June/July: Jason's 10-year high school reunion
Planned start date: 2-Oct-06 Planned finish date: 24-Dec-06!
My 12-Week Goals:
1. Within 12 weeks, I will lose 12-24 lbs of bodyfat!
2. Within 12 weeks, I will decrease my waist size by 8 inches!
3. Within 12 weeks, I will look in the mirror and admire what I see!
4. Within 12 weeks, I will be healthier than I am today!
5. Within 12 weeks, I will sign up and run my first-ever 5K!! :-)

Wow! It has been a LONG time since I've last written. Well I was in ALS (Airmen Leadership School) for all of August and that took up TONS of my time. I graduated on 31Aug so all is good in that department. Now all I have to do is pass my fitness test and I'll be in like flynn. :-) So far so good. I have increased everything. I have another practice test this Thursday so we'll see how I'm doing. I only need 20 more points to pass. And I'm on my way.
I hired a personal trainer. I have met with him once. Tomorrow will be my second session. And man are they hard!! But good at the same time. This will definitely give me the push that I have needed for a long time.
Short post but I just wanted to update.

Took my P.T. test on Friday... increased my score by 17.75 points. I was shooting for 20!! If only my abdomen was 0.5 inches smaller!! That would have gotten me 2.25 points. Can you believe that?!?!? I ran my 1.5 mile in 17:16... I dropped 2 minutes from my previous run time. I did 19 pushups... increased that by 14!! My abdominal circumference went down, I think, by 2.5 inches!! All in all, I am VERY happy with those results!
I read a lot last night on everyone's progress and starting the bfl again and what-not. Got me really thinking about when I did the bfl a few years ago (can't believe it's been that long!) and actually stuck to EVERYthing. I saw AMAZING results. Every time I think about losing weight, every time I talk about losing weight... I always go back to the bfl BUT I have not done it in so long. I have been half-heartedly attempting it. Wanting to lose weight REALLY bad but not doing everything that I know to do. SO... I decided to start it again. It wouldn't hurt!
I didn't go to the gym this morning... I just wanted to sleep in a little bit. I had a meeting at 0800 so I didn't have to go to work before my meeting so, needless to say, I slept in!! Well tonight I had to go to base for something. I went in my gym clothes b/c I figured I could just swing by the gym on my way home. Well... I sat in the parking lot for 10 minutes. Couldn't make myself get out of my vehicle. So I called my really good friend... NO ANSWER. I left a message. THEN I called my sister, Rachel, NO ANSWER. I left another message. Then I called one of my workout-a-holic co-workers... SHE ANSWERED!! Thank goodness. So she helped me talk myself into going into the gym! And I am so thankful to her b/c I feel AWESOME!!! I am so very proud of myself. I did 35 minutes all in all of cardio (b/c I have to document at least 30 minutes of activity)... so I did the bfl 20 minute HIIT cardio and then went backwards on the elliptical for 8 minutes and cooled down for 7!! VERY VERY proud of myself. I think this is what I needed to get me moving! I actually did something I set out to do! I accomplished my workout goal for the day. Yeah me!!! :-)

Didn't post last night b/c I volunteered at the firework stand from 3-9 and I was pooped. Didn't even think to get on the computer last night.
We went to the zoo today. I had the day off of work b/c our friends are going to Germany (military) and they are leaving this weekend for California to visit family before they actually go to Germany. Well, my friend's husband and daughter are leaving on Sunday and she's sticking behind to wait for the movers then she will join them in California. We took their daughter to the zoo. She had a great time and I'm so glad my husband, Jason, and I did this today. We have many, many pictures from today. :-)
So... today, needless to say, I didn't have too many goals. Just to believe in myself and to post to blog tonight. Oh and also to stick to meal plan BUT I didn't write one out last night. So I didn't consume enough but I did get some from the day. Mainly drank LOTS and LOTS of water b/c it was so hot out!
Looked at pictures from 4 weeks ago and ones that we took on Monday. I can totally tell in my stomach!! I am happy about that! About time. Now I just have to incorporate weight lifting to my cardio and eating right program and I think I will see results a lot faster! Got to kick my butt into gear!

Today went fairly well. Except I did not wake up to go to the gym this morning so I decided that I would go after work. Well, after work, all I wanted to do was come home and rest. I was pooped from the stress of the day. So I told myself that I would at least do my weight lifting program today (since today was my first day of the program). Needless to say, I didn't do that either! I got home and fell asleep. I woke up at 8:30 and ate dinner. Started getting myself together for tomorrow and I'm STILL working on that. So, today was a workout disaster but I will figure out what works for me and start doing it. I HAVE to start doing it.
Goals for today:
1. I will go to the gym and start 90 day "Get Fit" running program. -No
2. I will stick to meal plan for day. -DONE

Okay... So I have been doing a lot of thinking today. I have FIVE weeks until my next fitness test (two practice tests within that timeframe)! For cardio, I have been doing aerobics on Mondays and Fridays & kickboxing on Wednesdays (b/c it's all mandatory), every other Thursday is our practice test. Trying (but sometimes failing) to run for 30 minutes on Tuesday and every other Thursday. Any suggestions as to what else I should do to get my body in top shape in FIVE weeks?!?! My fitness leader gave me a running plan for the next week but I feel as though I should be doing more. Any suggestions anyone?
Thanks!!
Thanks!!

STILL haven't gotten measurements OR pictures done but I'm not worried about it b/c I can tell in the way my clothes fit differently! I was talking with one of my friends today and she's going to come over this weekend and we're going take pics and measurements though. Can't wait!
Got my run time down 15 seconds (from 19:03 to 18:38), which is really good for me! I have gone up from 7 pushups to 12! Can you believe that?!?!? Just a few short months ago I could only do ONE! Still struggling with my situps though. I am going full force for the full minute but I only pushed out 43 on Thursday. I need 47! I am almost there. My waist circumference has also gone down two inches but not enough, yet, to give me any points. I am not worried about this either b/c I know things are happening. On another good note... My score has increased by 4 points! That's awesome. And I'm just going to continue to get better!
My friend's birthday was 5-May and her husband bought her a spa package and said that he would pay for one of her friends to go. She picked ME!!! We went today and it was amazing. Just an awesome, relaxing day! I've never had a full body massage before. I totally recommend it!

Didn't take measurements or pictures b/c I didn't have anyone to do them for me. I will get my husband to do them tonight. I know things are changing, though, because my clothes are fitting different. Also, I have had a few people comment that I look like I'm losing weight AND that they can notice in my face!! I am so excited about that one. I wrote out my goals yesterday and I'm ready to keep pushing forward!

I just finished up getting everything ready for tomorrow. I work out in the mornings at the gym on base and I usually have enough time to go home and shower before I have to be to work. But on Friday I was told that my schedule is going to be changing a little bit and it will not allow me enough time to make it home to shower and get ready before I have to be to work. It's going to be a change for me b/c I do not like taking a shower at the gym but I can handle it. I only have to do this until I pass my fitness test and then I can make my own workout schedule!
I am feeling pretty darn good! My husband told me that he can notice a difference. I didn't even have to ask this time!!! :-) One of my friends and I took our measurements & pics about three weeks ago. I haven't really been incorporating weights or anything but I have cleaned up my eating and have been doing cardio. I also have started this healthy lifestyles program seminar every Thursday (recommended by my supervisor). It's great so far! They have handouts every week and they have a scale that we can weigh in if we want to (not mandatory). Well the first day was 20-Apr and I weighed myself. Then again on 27-Apr and I had lost 2 lbs. I am very happy about that. One of my goals is to constantly lose 2 lbs a week.
Tomorrow I am starting the lifting program out of Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle. I am very excited about this whole thing b/c over the weekend I sat down and wrote out my goals. My ultimate, one-year, 3-month and daily goals. I know this is all attainable and I can't wait!!
I had a practice on Thursday and I cut my run time down by 12 seconds. Every time I ran in the past I would want to stop and walk around the start of my second lap (not far, huh?) but on Thursday I ran the whole 6 laps without wanting to stop ONCE! That is so awesome for me. AND that means that I am getting better. Another thing, I ran my sixth (last) lap 3 seconds faster than my first one. How great is that?!?!? I just can't believe it... That means that I ran FIVE laps and STILL had it in me to run faster and finish with a better time. I'm so proud of myself!
So next Sunday my friend and I will take 4-week pics and our measurements and I can't wait. Even my clothes are fitting better!
Have a wonderful week everyone!!

Well, first off, I have given into my temptations for the cigarettes! I had about four or five Saturday night and then I bought a pack Sunday morning. Oh well, what can ya do?!? I am sure I will try quitting again real soon.
Went for a run/walk on Saturday and Sunday, probably about a mile. Did aerobics on Monday, walked on the treadmill on Tuesday (2 miles) b/c it was so darn windy out here (plan was to run outside), kickboxing on Wednesday and ran 1.5 miles for my practice P.T. test today.
Met with my First Sergeant yesterday and received an LOC (Letter of Counseling) for not passing my fitness test. Overall: zero pts for my waist circumference, 21 pts for my 1.5 mile run at 19:15, 4 pts for 5 pushups in one minute and 9 pts for 45 situps in one minute. A total of 34.00 pts! BAD!!!... I need at least 70 pts for a marginal score. And I have until 6-Jul to test again and if I don't receive AT LEAST 70 pts I will have to meet with my Commander! I am working towards the 70 pts goal as we speak (so to say)!...
One good thing came from meeting with my First Sergeant yesterday. I have been keeping a food diary every now and then but haven't been keeping track of calories or fat grams. WELL... he wants me to keep a food diary EVERY day and track my calories and fat grams and he will check it once a week. This man is hard core so I know that I won't be eating anything bad until I pass my fitness test! Both good and bad that he wants to see my food diary. There will be no lying or leaving stuff out. If he ever finds out (I don't know how he would, but...), I could get in big trouble, mister! Just knowing that he is going to check it has helped me out A LOT the past couple of days. I know with the BFL you are supposed to track everything anyways well I hadn't been doing that. Nor have I been eating authorized foods all the time. WELL now I have no choice. I should be losing weight fast now. Don't ya think?!?!

Forgot to mention that I have quit smoking. I know it will help with all of the running that I plan on doing.
I had quit October 2004 and started back up in December 2005. So it's only been a few months. I can tell you that I do miss it but I know it's something I can live without. Now if my husband could just realize that! :-)
So I am on Day #2!... and going strong!

Well the plan was to walk on Tuesday and Wednesday night but I heard that it was supposed to storm on Thursday (the day I was to PT test). So I decided to do my PT test on Tuesday night. I ran 1.5 miles in 19:15, 45 situps in 1 min and 5 pushups in 1 min. I didn't do as well as I had wanted to so I decided I was gonna retest on Thursday. The next plan was to walk Wednesday night after work but I was so whooped that I ended up falling asleep once I got home.
I retested this morning. Running the 1.5 miles in 19:20. The wind was unreal. Needless to say, I am taking the results from Tuesday's run. It's better. And now I have THREE months to train my butt off (literally) for my 1.5 mile run!!
Just wanted to update. I will write more later.

I met up with one of my friends at a near by park yesterday with my dog and we walked for 2 miles. It was beautiful out and it gave me a chance to clear my head. Plus I think my dog, Bailey, enjoyed himself as well.
Today was day one of four of a training class that my supervisor wanted me to attend. The information that they are teaching is soooooooooooooooo dry and the lady is so monotone it was very hard to stay awake. Thank goodness for coffee!!
I didn't do too much today. Eating was not on but I didn't pig out either. My husband, Jason, and I were supposed to run today to get ready for my test on Thursday but I ended up taking a nap after I got home from work. It was only supposed to be an hour but turned into 3.5. Oops!! He tried to wake me but that just didn't happen. Tomorrow the plan is to take it easy in preparation for Thursday. So my friend and I are planning on meeting up at the park again tomorrow after work. I also plan on walking on Wednesday as well.
So... Until tomorrow!

I have been meaning to update for the past week but haven't made time to get on here and do it. So... I have fallen off the wagon. It's been three weeks since I've followed my program to a 'T'. I have been doing aerobics on Mondays & Fridays (b/c it's mandatory at work) and kickboxing on Wednesdays and on the 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month we have a practice PT test so I have been running a 1.5 miles on those days. But that's it. I haven't been eating all that well either. I have been attempting but we all know how that goes! So...
I have decided that I am going to start running and following the bfl workouts to a 'T' starting tomorrow. My husband will take my before picture and my measurements tomorrow as well. And I'll be off...
Just wanted to update.

Well today is day 15! I'm still going strong but feeling a little sad. I didn't realize that it's been 1/2 a month already until I was telling one of my friends that it's day 15 on the program. I'm actually excited!! I've started and stopped the BFL program so many times in the past and this is the longest that I have gone since Jan-Apr 2003!! That is really good for me. BUT... at the same time I WANT TO SEE RESULTS LIKE YESTERDAY!! :-) I know I have to be patient, as my husband so lovingly reminds me, but it's hard right now. I just keep focused b/c I want to see results when we weigh and measure and take pics in a couple of weeks.

Today marks the end of Week 2!! I have stumbled a little but all in all, a great week! I didn't work out Monday or Tuesday besides what I have to do at work BUT I made up for it on Wednesday. You can't tell me that you don't do it too! :-) I did a lbwo, cardio and ubwo Wednesday after work. I can tell you, though, that I will never do that again. I was exhausted by the time I got home. My husband made dinner for us that night b/c I couldn't. Well I probably could have but I didn't have any energy to. Note: The rest of Week 2 went smoothly.
I have enjoyed my free day! My husband and I went grocery shopping today for the next week and I bought two candy bars (I'm a chocoholic!) but I haven't eaten them and I don't have any cravings to finish them before I go to bed tonight. So I might just have to have my husband hide them until next week! We'll see...
Week 2 down, 10 to go! :-) Have a great week everyone!!

So I have made it through my first week of BFL. I did very well considering Friday night we had KFC for dinner. Neither my husband nor I were in the mood to cook and I didn't have any meals pre-made. And I didn't do cardio on Saturday b/c I did my upper body workout from the prior day. I will do cardio tomorrow along with my LB workout. All in all I had a pretty good week.
We have an inspection coming up this week at work. They extended our hours in the office from 0630-1800 every day last week AND we had to go in from 0800-1200 on Saturday. I actually worked until a little after 1:00 Saturday afternoon but it will be worth it in the end. The inspection lasts all week and it will be over on Friday. Everyone is looking forward to Friday for other than obvious reasons. This inspection only comes around every two years and when it draws near everyone starts to freak out b/c they haven't been complying with standards all year long and they try to fit everything in a two month timeframe. Doesn't work very well that way!!
I PT test again on 06Mar and I am not really ready for it but I will try my darnedest to pass! If I do not pass this time I have to meet with my First Sergeant and I will, more than likely, receive an LOC (letter of counseling). I will have three months before I test again (that will put me at 06Jun) and if I fail again I will have to meet with my Commander, in my dress blues, to receive an LOR (letter of reprimand) and a UIF (unfavorable information file) and I think that is when he will discuss demoting me. I am a SrA (Senior Airman) right now but I have a line number for Staff Sergeant but I can't pin on until I go to ALS (Airmen Leadership School) and I can't go that until I pass my PT test! Argh!! It all comes around full circle as you can see. I can't wait to pass my PT test and go to ALS so I can pin-on Staff and make more money!! That is just shy of a $200/mth raise!! :-) That would be so nice. We have a lot of bills that we need to pay off before my enlistment is up (which is 17Apr07). I haven't decided, yet, whether I am going to reenlist or not. We'll see... Only time will tell!
That's all for now. I will write more tomorrow! Thanks for reading!!
